Meldy has been a writer in various genre for many years. Her influences have been many Writers and Musicians, over the years and reflect in her writing and Poetry. Issues of interest in her writing includes human rights and human living in changing times, preservation of historic places, forests and the animals that inhabit them. Her most recent writing are exploring life's Celebrations with the Joys of childhood, and our situations.
Meldy has won awards for Art, Writing (Poetry, storytelling and Playwright) and Theater Directing.
Some of the pieces to her credit are “At Wilton’s General Store” (historical play) presented at Port Theatre; The Wonderful Bobby April (award winning play) at Vancouver Island's one Act Play Festival; Culture Days Canada Spoken word Presentations and Poetry readings.
Dam Poets collective and completed many readings over the years.
Meldy is a winner of children’s poetry with her poem “What is Life?” at age 12. She created The Dam Poets and independently published “Inspiration of Colliery Dams”, Poetry & short story book, inspired by Forests and preservation of historic areas.
Meldy has presented Poetry and spoken word at Vancouver Regional Library and for Culture days Canada, and made many public storytelling presentations; poetry presentations; Play presentations and workshops on Writing. The most recent book is illustrated by her husband, Richard P. Broad. Children’s book: “Adventures of Chris & Raymond – The Zombie Sleepover”, is the first in a series launched in 2022.
