About the Call for Proposals

  • All speakers are paid $350 to $375 depending on the type of event. In instances of co-presenting, the fee is split evenly between presenters.
  • Do not panic if you think you submitted to the wrong program as all are vetted by the same team. As we examine proposals, we will consider other programs and events for which your proposal may fit.
  • We ask that all proposals plan to include an activity.
  • A proposal is not a guarantee of acceptance.
  • All accepted proposals will receive a contract
  • Payment is made via direct deposit within 30 days of the event
  • Recordings of events are saved by the Federation of BC Writers and will be made available to participants for 45 days. The recordings will then be uploaded to our Video Vault.
  • Spaces are limited, especially in the nearer events.
  • All events are online unless otherwise indicated.

Writing Intensive: Creative RX

This is a prescription for creativity! Join us for a week of learning focused on the health of writers. We will tackle conversations like imposter syndrome, being blocked creatively, establishing healthy habits, setting realistic goals, and more

Writing Intensive: 2AI or not 2AI

This intensive is designed to examine what AI is, what the terms associated with it mean, unpack the ways that AI threatens and complicates the careers of writers, and look to ethical uses for AI in enhancing and strengthening our creative and professional endeavours. Our goal is to have a diverse set of opinions and knowledge sharing so that writers can make informed decisions.

Writing Intensive: New Year, New Writing

Do you set new years resolutions? Is it your time to get started on a project or to finish one that lingers from the previous year. Join us for a week of motivation, goal setting, and habit forming.

2026 Writers Summit: Fearless

The Writers Summit took a break in 2025, but is returning in 2026 with the theme of fearless! Pitch us your ideas for sessions that tackle everything that gets in our way. Spark courage and help other writers overcome their greatest fears.

Webinars

This general workshop event covers any and all writerly topics. If you have a workshop that is 1.5 hours long and has an interesting take or approach to writing, this is the best place to pitch it. Sessions are 1.5 hours in length. 


Young Writers Series

Designed to inspire youth to write in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and other genres and mediums. These sessions are 1.5 hr in length with a break in the middle and will take place over zoom. Sessions limited to participants from 12 to 21.

Sessions will be in Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, March, April, and May


Business Writing Series

Designed to support professionals across workplaces and backgrounds, this series will cover a variety of topics to assist with clarity, professionalism, capturing attention, and communicating clearly. If you write emails, develop reports, or draft documents, this series is for you.

Sessions will be in Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, March, April, and May


Students and Academic Writers Series

All new students in the post secondary can benefit from more education on the basics. This series will provide students with information on citations, research, forming a thesis, writing under pressure, and the unique quirts and expectations of academic writing. Perfect for anyone who has to write a paper!

These sessions are 1.5 hr in length with a break in the middle and will take place over zoom.

Sessions will be in Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, March, April, and May


Memoir Writers Series

Designed to help the many writers sharing their own stories, this series will help you develop the skills needed to envision, focus, and complete your draft memoir.

These sessions are 1.5 hr in length with a break in the middle and will take place over zoom.

Sessions will be in Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, March, April, and May
