Bio:
J.T. Siemens moved to Vancouver to become a personal trainer, and feels fortunate to have discovered his true love – writing crime fiction. After studying screenwriting at Capilano University, he followed it up with creative writing at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. Around this time, a real-life murder occurred at J.T.’s workplace. In the gory aftermath, one of his colleagues stumbled across the victim’s body, and in the ensuing weeks and months suffered from PTSD. This inspired J.T. to write a short story from her perspective. The story was well received, so much so that he gained confidence to spin a much larger tale around the event. The result was To Those Who Killed Me, the first book in the critically acclaimed Sloane Donovan mystery series, and a finalist for the Crime Writers of Canada Best Unpublished Award. The novel was picked up for publication by NeWest Press and released in April 2022. It went on to win the inaugural Mystery and Thriller Book of the Year Award at the 2023 Alberta Book Publishing Awards. The sequel, Call of the Void, hit shelves this spring, and dives into even darker territory with the case of a missing teen that ties into a clandestine world of disappearing girls, illegal narcotics, and loose ends dating back forty years. The third instalment in the Sloane Donovan series, Blood Alley, is slated for upcoming publication, and his fourth book, a stand-alone thriller entitled Karmic Rat, is currently in the works. It is a chase novel loosely based on the Surrey Six slaying in 2007. Told from four perspectives, the relentlessly paced book takes place over two days.
