On Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 pm Join author Megan Cole (Water & Wood) of Powell River Public Library for this Federation of BC Writers event featuring non-fiction writers. 

Erika Thorkelson is a writer of fiction and non-fiction who was raised on the prairies and now lives in Vancouver. Her essays, cultural criticism, journalism and short stories have appeared in The Walrus, Chatelaine, The Vancouver Sun, Room Magazine and Maisonneueve. She teaches humanities and creative writing at Emily Carr University of Art and Design

Jane Silcott is a writer, teacher, and editor from Vancouver. Her collection of essays, Everything Rustles was a finalist in the BC Book Prizes. She is co-editor, with Fiona Tinwei Lam, of the anthology Love Me True: Writers Reflect on the Ins, Outs, Ups & Downs of Marriage. Her writing has been published in several literary magazines and anthologies and been recognized with a CBC Literary Award, a Room Magazine Prize, a Readers Choice Award from the Creative Nonfiction Collective and as a finalist in both the National and the Western Magazine Awards. Jane is a mentor in the low residency Creative Nonfiction MFA Program at the University of King’s College in Halifax.

Host Megan Cole is a tattooed food enthusiast with an obsessive reading habit. Megan has been published in The Puritan, Invisiblog, Untethered, Coast Mountain Culture Magazine and moreShe's currently working on her first book titled Crazy Making: Surviving the Shipwreck of Male Mental Health. When Megan isn’t writing, reading or cooking, she’s working at the Powell River Public Library and as the director of audience development for the BC and Yukon Book Prizes. She's also the host and producer of the podcast Writing the Coast.
