Hiring an illustrator is like dating. When looking for and finding the RIGHT illustrator for you, just like MR/MRS RIGHT, it is important to keep in mind that all perceptions are different. What is good for YOU, may not be the case for another person. When YOU make a book, YOU will have a vision for how YOU will want that book to look. It is pretty neat when you find someone who nails that vision on the head with accuracy, it’ll be pretty damn close – but it will never be EXACTLY as you envisioned. Accepting this truth first will help you on your journey of finding the RIGHT illustrator for you, and maybe even MR/MRS RIGHT too.
In this workshop you will learn:
Join Lindsay and learn all about illustrators and illustrations.
Lindsay Ford is the author, illustrator and publisher of Bread + Clutter Books: A revolutionary children’s book series changing the way we think of the world, and the people in it. Described as “nextgen books”, Bread+Clutter stories are made for children, with adults in mind.
The Awkward + Awesome series is a collection of such books, celebrating real people with their uniquely amazing stories – however strange or odd they may be. Stories of unsuspecting, unlikely heroes who manage to change the world we live in just by being themselves and owning their inner weirdos. Titles include: Tommy Tutu; The Granny That Never Got Old; The Big Bike Bamboozle and, coming this year, Ugly Food.
Bread + Clutter supports mental health awareness. Every book is made with the hopes of starting the conversation about mental health. Each story speaks to a world where it’s okay to be weird and wonderful.
