The Elder Project

Have you learned about the Elder Project yet? We had a recent project in Nanaimo, BC, and it was covered by Shaw TV. Watch the video to learn more about the process, or visit to read some past issues.

Since 2010, Wendy has worked with school districts and other agencies, including the Federation of BC Writers, on The Elder Project.  She works with mainly First Nations and Inuit students.  She trains them as poets, then she supervises their interviews with their Elders.  These interviews are then turned into poems.  The poems and the photographs of the students and the Elders are then published in a book to be used in the school districts.  Wendy has completed thirteen Elder Project books so far.
