Mark Leiren-Young

He wrote and directed The Hundred-Year-Old Whale, a documentary about the matriarch of the southern resident orcas that won the 2018 Writers Guild of Canada Award for Documentary and he hosts the Skaana podcast. Mark wrote two comic memoirs Free Magic Secrets Revealed (Harbour) and Never Shoot a Stampede Queen (Heritage), which won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour. He toured Canada as half of the satirical comedy duo, Local Anxiety. His play, Bar Mitzvah Boy is currently running in Santa Monica and his play Shylock is running in Prague until 2020.
