An evening with Barbara Smith and Erin Davis
In celebration of Persons Day, which recognizes the historic decision to include women in the legal definition of “persons”, two successful women from the Peninsula will read from their most recent book. Barbara Smith’s The Famous Five: Canada’s Crusaders for Women’s Rights is a concise history of the five women who changed the course of history and brought Canadians one step closer to equality. In her book, Mourning Has Broken: Love, Loss and Reclaiming Joy, former radio host Erin Davis recounts her difficult journey through grief following the unexpected death of her daughter. Tickets are $10 and available at Tanner’s Books or on line at https://www.sidneyliteraryfestival.ca/. All proceeds from ticket sales go to support the 2021 Sidney LitFest. That's October 18th at the Shoal Centre, 10030 Resthaven Dr. in Sidney, from 7 to 9 PM.
