C_V2 - Colour of Pride - 12x18 - 10pt 2In July of 1967, while attending the University of Windsor, David Floody watched from the Canadian shores of the Detroit River as the fires of racial hatred consumed the Motor City in a five-day riot. The Detroit he knew so well - where he saw Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Diana Ross and The Supremes, watched the play of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers - was wreathed in a pall black smoke whipped into  whirlwinds by Huey helicopter gunships above the sounds of machine gun fire and the sirens of fire engines and emergency vehicles. It was the most disturbing five days of his life and inspired The Colour of Pride.

Storyline: A year after the 1967 Detroit race riot, white Canadian teen ballplayer, Frank Phelan, befriends and defends black teen ballplayer, Ellie Fitzgerald, from a racist bully and mounting prejudice at the 1968 World Series, while both strive get the autograph of their baseball idol, Al Kaline.
Availability: The novel is available as paperback and ebook from Amazon and Amazon Kindle. More details are available from David Floody’s Facebook page and from his twitter feed @defloody. His new website will be launched at the same time at www.davidfloody.com.
