In celebration of Persons Day, which recognizes the historic decision to include women in the legal definition of “persons”, two successful women from the Peninsula will read from their most recent book. Barbara Smith’s The Famous Five: Canada’s Crusaders for Women’s Rights is a concise history of the five women who changed the course of history and brought Canadians one step closer to equality. In her book, Mourning Has Broken: Love, Loss and Reclaiming Joy, former radio host Erin Davis recounts her difficult journey through grief following the unexpected death of her daughter. Tickets are $10 and available at Tanner’s Books or on line at https://www.sidneyliteraryfestival.ca/. All proceeds from ticket sales go to support the 2021 Sidney LitFest. That's October 18th at the Shoal Centre, 10030 Resthaven Dr. in Sidney, from 7 to 9 PM.

Surrounded by gnomes, gargoyles and poisonous plants, KT Wagner writes Gothic horror and other unsettling stories in the garden of her Maple Ridge, British Columbia home. KT graduated from Simon Fraser University’s Writers Studio in 2015 (Southbank 2013). A number of her short stories are published in magazines and anthologies. She’s currently working on a scifi-horror novel.
