Price of Silence

Vancouver launch of the thriller “The Price of Silence” by Ulla Hakanson.

The event, organized by the Swedish Women’s Educational Association and the Scandinavian Cultural Society, is on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7:00pm – 9:00pm at the Scandinavian Community Centre, 6540 Thomas St., Burnaby (604-294-2777).

Ulla will talk a bit about the book, read from it, answer questions and sign books. Refreshments will be served.

Dan Unrau Reads from his New Novel at Richmond Library

Author Danny Unrau will read from his new family mystery novel You Are The Boy on Wed. September 18th from 7-8 p.m. in the Kwok-Chu Lee living room at the Brighouse (Main) Branch of Richmond Public Library, 7700 Minoru Gate. Free and drop-in. For more information call 604-231-6413.

Unrau describes the story this way: “The results of a DNA test jangle Ben’s self-identity. On a crooked trail back through his family history, Ben uncovers a Jewish infant mysteriously left on a Mennonite doorstep in the violent Ukraine nearly eighty years before he was born. From Canada to Russian to Jerusalem, Ben searches and finds more than just his identity.”

Danny Unrau is the author of the short vignettes Saints, Sinners & Angels and Rogues, Rascals & Rare Gems. You Are the Boy is his first novel. Unrau has a BA in sociology, English and religious studies, an MA in Jewish studies, and a Doctorate.
